Bureau Valley High School students recently learned about curling and got to try their hands at the sport.
While it wasn't on traditional curling ice, they did get to try it during their gym classes. The equipment on loan from the U.S. Curling Association was provided by Waltham Curling Club. BVHS teacher Sheila Heth spearheaded the effort to bring the equipment and program to the school. The students learned the history and rules of the sport and then practiced their skills. Five separate class (approximately 130 children total) were introduced to the sport and they will have more classes this week to improve their skills. Additional area schools have signed on to use the equipment after BVHS.
